Pilates Rotational Exercise for Mat
Call it restorative, call it a movement or an exercise, call it whatever you’d like. This Pilates rotational exercise on the mat is a winner! Clients love it so much after they do it once, they request it again and again and even ask for tips on how to do it at home.
And the exercise is….
(drumroll, please…)
Telescope Arms!
Getting the most out of this client favorite Mat Pilates rotational exercise
Without much direction from Pilates instructors, this exercise feels good all on its own. However, when you can add in a few extra nuggets of information that help clients squeeze just a bit more yumminess out of this move? Oh boy! That’s when clients really get hooked.
These extra nuggets are key. After experiencing this Pilates rotational exercise, clients begin to sense their bodies in new ways. This can be enlightening and eye-opening!
Clients learn not only what’s tight in their body, but how to release into it. This is powerful! Oftentimes people think they have to FORCE a stretch or move, and this move actually encourages release.
By leaning into RELEASE, clients begin to understand the give and take in their bodies. Sometimes they have to work hard, and sometimes they have to let go.
It’s all a balance.
The GIFT of movement
When you can help your Pilates clients bring awareness to their bodies, they begin to take ownership and want to learn how to do more on their own. This is such a gift that you can give them. And, once you have clients hooked on a home Pilates exercise they LOVE?! Well, then it’s much easier to add in one or two more they may not enjoy quite so much. 😉
Check out the video below for some great “cueing nuggets” that can help your clients get the most out of the Telescope Arms. Even if they can’t fully relax or release into it right away, it feels SO good they often are willing to continue practicing on their own. In time, it gets easier and better.
Enjoy teaching your clients this divine Pilates rotational exercise on the mat!
